Dalliance's irreverant bar-based spin on the joys of our collapsing economy

The Girl in the Park

Because of the Economy....
created by the Dalliance ensemble

Can’t pay your rent, because of the economy?
Can’t find a job, because of the economy?
Can’t get a date to save your soul, because of the economy?

You say F#$@ it all, I’m going to the bar. And you’re right, you should.
You slide into a stool, your rumpled Century 21 jacket on your lap.
You stare into your cold, frosty beer, wiping tears into your cocktail napkin.
You hear a noise.
You look up.
Seven actors have walked into the bar.
WTF, you think--- what the hell can Actors do for me now? My life SUCKS!
Well guess what? If anyone’s life sucks, it’s actors! And do they complain? NEVER!
What do they know that you don’t?
We’ll tell you-- kick back, sip a beer, watch and listen while we show you the way of the world.
You’re thinking: why the hell should I do that?

Dalliance spent the spring and summer of 2009 creating our first company-devised piece, a series of short plays and songs bringing out the dark side of our flailing economy. Taking place in bars across Manhattan, Because of the Economy... combined the joys of theater with the joys of drinking.
