Who Is Jordan Bishop? chronicles the meteoric rise and inevitable demise of celebrity gossip monger/ part-time rock-god/ full-time ass-hole Jordan Bishop. The play uses a variety of genres, styles and devices to reveal the man, the myth, the legend one theatrical snapshot at a time.
We launched the first installament of our Virgin Plays series in March 2010. Eight writers were given a "snapshot" of Jordan, as well as two secrets that none of the other writers knew, and sent them off to create their own short play. Working with eight different directors, we fused the eight different plays into one story with a chorus of theatrical voices.
Dalliance Theater Company made a bold choice in their concept of a new play festival… The result is a myriad of new work that experiments with multiple styles of scripts and yet is held together by this enigmatic character at the center of it all. For those who joined them for Who is Jordan Bishop?, there were many moments that were indeed ambitious. The show incorporated projections and the plays ranged from political upheaval, to sadism, to Christopher Guest-like moments between aging rockers. There was indeed something for everyone, even Jordan. Dalliance has its finger on the pulse of our culture and they are certainly a company to keep an eye on.
